Cloud Servers

Bring your own cloud server

Keep your server in your own cloud account and manage it from NewHost. Create one at the provider you already use, or connect one you have, on Linux or Windows Server.

Supported providers

What NewHost can do at each provider with an API token from your own account.

How it works

  1. 1

    Connect your cloud account

Create an API token in your provider's control panel with only the rights NewHost needs (the dashboard shows which) and save it in NewHost. It is checked with the provider, then stored encrypted.

  2. 2

    Create or connect a server

Pick a region, size and operating system and NewHost creates the server in your account, after you confirm the provider's price. Already have one? Connect it instead.

  3. 3

    Deploy and manage

Point your domains at it and manage it next to your hosting. On Windows Server, create sites that deploy from a zip or straight from GitHub, each in its own sandboxed IIS app pool.

What you get

Your account, your server

The server lives in your own cloud account and your provider bills you for it directly. You can leave NewHost at any time and keep it.

Linux and Windows Server

Ubuntu LTS at every provider, and Windows Server where the provider offers it: Vultr, Amazon Lightsail, OVHcloud and UpCloud.

Price shown before you create

NewHost shows the provider's list price for the size you pick and creates nothing until you confirm it.

Key-only access

NewHost signs in with a key made for that one server and checks the server's identity on every connection. No shared passwords.

Power from the dashboard

Start, stop and restart your server, and see its status and addresses, without opening the provider's console.

Support only when you allow it

Our team can work on your server only while you grant access, for a time you choose, and every visit is logged.

Pricing

Your cloud provider bills the server to your own account at its own prices; NewHost shows that list price before it creates anything. Managing your own servers in NewHost may need a NewHost management plan per server: you see its price in the dashboard before you order. For larger fleets, contact us.

Frequently asked questions

Which cloud providers can I use?

Amazon Lightsail, DigitalOcean, Hetzner Cloud, Linode, OVHcloud, Scaleway, UpCloud and Vultr (create servers from NewHost), Hostinger (set up a VPS you bought) and Contabo (connect a VPS you ordered). Any other Windows or Linux server, or a Plesk server, can be connected too.

Who bills me for the server?

Your cloud provider bills the server to your own account at its own prices. NewHost shows you that list price and asks you to confirm before it creates anything. Managing your server in NewHost may need a NewHost management plan; you see its price in the dashboard before you order, or contact us.

Can I run Windows Server?

Yes, at Vultr, Amazon Lightsail, OVHcloud and UpCloud, which include the Windows licence in their price, and on any Windows server you connect. You sign in once with Remote Desktop and run NewHost's installer; sites then run in their own sandboxed IIS app pools.

Why can't NewHost create Contabo or Hostinger servers?

Both sell servers as purchases: Contabo as contracts with a minimum term, Hostinger as plans bought in hPanel. NewHost never buys anything on your behalf, so you order the server there and NewHost connects it (Contabo) or sets it up (Hostinger).

What access does NewHost need?

An API token with only the server rights listed in the dashboard for your provider, and on the server a dedicated newhost account that signs in with a key only. You can revoke the token at your provider at any time.

What happens if I stop using NewHost?

The server stays yours at your provider. Remove it from NewHost, revoke the API token and delete the newhost account on the server.
